HISTORY

Founding Story:
Kane Liquid Fuels was established in 1956 by Russell D. Larson, setting the stage for a legacy of excellence in fuel services. Following Russell's untimely passing in 1974, Raymond (Uncle Slim) Shaffer and an ambitious 18-year-old Vinnie Marold joined forces to purchase the company. With just one 1,600-gallon fuel truck, they embarked on a journey that would see the business flourish over the next five decades.

Early Days:
A significant turning point came in 1977 with the acquisition of the Oak Street warehouse in Kane, PA. This location became a cornerstone for local customers and surrounding businesses. Between 1977 and 1987, Kane Liquid Fuels made strategic enhancements, including the purchase of its first new peddle truck, a 10,000-gallon bulk tank, updated pumps, and a protective canopy. Additionally, the acquisition of Sunrise Fuel and Supply from Grand Valley, PA, along with a Mack tractor for fuel hauling, marked the company's commitment to growth.

Growth and Development:
Kane Liquid Fuels quickly gained a reputation for exceptional customer service and reliability. Our expanding customer base has supported farmers, local emergency services, the oil and gas community, and loggers, while also ensuring warmth in hundreds of homes.

Current Status:
In 2024, Kane Liquid Fuels entered a new chapter when purchased by Craig Johnson of Warren County, PA. Under Craig's leadership, the two locations were rebranded as Kane Lubricants & Fuels and Sunrise Lubricants & Fuels. Our fleet of peddle trucks has grown alongside our invaluable customer relationships, allowing us to thrive in an increasingly competitive market.
